When unlinking a bug task from a bug watch Launchpad should ask you if you want to remove the watch completely.

Bug #320576 reported by Luis F. Lopez

Unassigned

Bug Description

When a bug is recorded as affecting another project and the link to the upstream project is incorrectly specified, there's no option to remove the Remote Watch (though it can be unassigned). Instead, you have to unassign task and then manually remove the watch.

Ideally, Launchpad would ask you whether you want to remove the watch, too, when you unassign the task. Obviously this has implications if comments have been imported from the upstream bug.

Hi Luis,

I removed the remote bugwatch by deassigning the bug of the remote bugtracker. To do that, I clicked on "Assigned to" and chose another option besides the remote bug one. Are you able to do that? If the problem persists, or if you don't have such this option, please, report here and I'll be glad to help :). If possible, please provide the steps you did to hit the problem, and the bug #.

Thanks!

Hi Ursula,

If I remove the remote bug watch, it still shows for the bug. In this specific case the entry is:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdebase-workspace/+bug/300334

Thanks,

Luis

I see Luis, you have a point. Also the first option is shown twice, "None, the status of the bug is updated manually."

I've deleteed the remote bug watch. You can do this by going to the "Remote bug watches" section in the right-hand panel of the bug page and clicking the edit icon (the yellow circle with the pencil in it). You can then click "Delete bug watch" to delete the watch.

The "None, the status of the bug is updated manually" is still showing twice, which is pretty weird, but is a separate bug.

I'll update this bug's title because I think there genuinely is a bug here in that removing the bug watch isn't intuitive.
