Bug Description

I recently uploaded a package to my PPA, and it was rejected with an email saying:

   Rejected:
Cannot build any of the architectures requested: any

This is really "the Jaunty distribution is not (yet) supported".

A clearer error message in these circumstances would be very helpful. I would think such a message could be added to the PPAs as soon as the name of the "next" distribution is known, the PPA upload system can just check for that name and give a more specific error about it from then on. Much confusion would be avoided by doing this! Once LP goes open source, I'd happily contribute a suitable patch.

I realize this issue is now "solved" for Jaunty, because the PPAs now work for that release name. However, a better error message for the general case of a "future, as yet not accepted" distribution name would avoid the confusion for people in future -- for example, when Jaunty is released and PPAs don't accept uploads for Jaunty+1 ...

I originally emailed this request to <email address hidden> and was asked to file it as a bug.
