Yeah, our feedback is kinda crappy here, with the whole import/pull/scan thing.
One approach would be to be more informative about what's going on, but another, possibly better, way would be to reduce the number of steps and the latency of them, i.e. combine the puller and the scanner and make the pulling more event driven.
