archive.ubuntu.com should include version symlink for releases

Bug Description

It'd be nice if archive.ubuntu.com (and mirrors) included symlinks from version numbers to release-names. This would among other things give you the option to use version number rather than release numbers in sources.list.

releases.ubuntu.com and cdimages.ubuntu.com already have symlinks like this, so it seems like a reasonable thing to expect.

Bug reported by request of elmo in #ubuntu-mirrors.

<rasher> elmo: I'm told that you might know why archive.ubuntu.com doesn't include version-number symlinks to the various releases?
<elmo> rasher: actually, I've no idea, I think they should :-)
<elmo> rasher: can you file a bug about it against the 'soyuz' product on launchpad?
