should include version symlink for releases

Bug #249864 reported by Jonas Häggqvist on 2008-07-18
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
Launchpad itself

Bug Description

It'd be nice if (and mirrors) included symlinks from version numbers to release-names. This would among other things give you the option to use version number rather than release numbers in sources.list. and already have symlinks like this, so it seems like a reasonable thing to expect.

Bug reported by request of elmo in #ubuntu-mirrors.

<rasher> elmo: I'm told that you might know why doesn't include version-number symlinks to the various releases?
<elmo> rasher: actually, I've no idea, I think they should :-)
<elmo> rasher: can you file a bug about it against the 'soyuz' product on launchpad?
