Bug Description

When doing translations, it is sometimes necessary to look at the context a string is used in. Rosetta should make the "Located in" a link to the correct line in the source file.

Yeah, that's a planned feature, but we cannot do that until Ubuntu development is not 100% integrated into launchpad (will be done post breezy) so we have all Ubuntu packages imported into bazaar and we have the source code available from a well know URL.

Well is this going to be done? It would save us from many mistakes.

This bug is old whereas it's impossible to correctly translate anything in french without this feature!

Buttons, titles or tooltips which have the same string in english, have different translations in french.

The problem with this is that we need first all source code imported in launchpad so we can link to that code.

I just found the spec that would provide us with that information and will unblock this bug:

Link to sources would greatly improve the workflow while during translations, as context is very important as OP said. So yet another ping on this bug!

for viewing the context for tortoisehg I do the following:
 * copy the text from the launchpad translation site, after "locaed in:" (example: tortoisehg/hgqt/settings.py:894)
 * replace the colon by "#L" (example is now tortoisehg/hgqt/settings.py#cl-894)
 * append this to "https://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg/src/tip/" (resulting in https://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg/src/tip/tortoisehg/hgqt/settings.py#cl-894)

This should be easy to automate. The configuration would need one setting with two place holders (relative path and line no). For projects in launchpad this could be preconfigured.

This would really help doing translation in launchpad!
