Bug Description

I have a soss PPA that comprises a subset of Ubuntu, where I binary copy certain packages from the Ubuntu archive. I found that one package refuses to copy into the jammy series. Here's the error message LP displays:

Copying failed of vtable-dumper (1.2-1) Remove notification Remove notification
Copied from: Primary Archive for Ubuntu. Copied by: dann frazier Target series: Jammy
vtable-dumper 1.2-1 in noble (binaries conflicting with the existing ones)

It happens to be the case that vtable-dumper is exactly the same version in Ubuntu/focal and Ubuntu/jammy. Perhaps this is the first and only time I've hit that condition. My soss PPA has no packages from noble, so I don't know why that series is mentioned.

What's weird is that this doesn't impact all packages. I was able to copy the same version of python-decorator into both focal and jammy:

python-decorator - 4.4.2-0ubuntu1 (changes file) corey.bryant 31 minutes ago Published Jammy Python All builds were built successfully.
python-decorator - 4.4.2-0ubuntu1 (changes file) corey.bryant 2022-06-24 Published Focal Python All builds were built successfully.

Why am I seeing this error only with vtable-dumper?

Guruprasad suggested I try doing a pocket copy from focal->jammy (w/ binaries) using the LP UI, and that seems to be working.
