Bug Description

Hello, when a user PPA has a package that shares a name with an Ubuntu package, Launchpad prepares a diff between the package and what's in Ubuntu. This is useful, but because it shows the diff against the version in the release pocket, much of the diff may not be very relevant.

As an example:

https://launchpad.net/~mfo/+archive/ubuntu/lp2009544/+packages

Available diffs

diff from 3.0.2-0ubuntu1 (in Ubuntu) to 3.0.2-0ubuntu1.10+lp2009544.1 (137.7 KiB)

This diff includes dozens of CVE fixes as well as several SRU fixes. What I really wanted to see was the much smaller diff between versions 3.0.2-0ubuntu1.10 and 3.0.2-0ubuntu1.10+lp2009544.1:

 29 files changed, 1770 insertions(+), 180 deletions(-)
vs
 69 files changed, 11292 insertions(+), 43 deletions(-)

So, could there be a few more diff links added? One against the release pocket, one against the updates pocket, one against the security pocket?

Thanks

Hi, I'd like to add a different instance where this is problematic. Even if the package being uploaded to a PPA is present in Ubuntu, Launchpad sometimes diffs it against the version in Debian. An example of this looks like:

Available diffs

diff from 3.0.2-0 (in Debian) to 3.0.2-0ubuntu1.10+lp2009544.1 (137.7 KiB)

Even though there is version 3.0.2-0ubuntu1.10 of that package in the archive. I've seen a few instances like this one and there doesn't seem to be a clear criteria of which version is used for diffing.
