Bug Description

Hello, can we change the default sort order of bugs on Ubuntu packages?

I'd like to propose that we sort by bug number as a default.

Priority isn't very useful -- mostly this brings bugs from a decade ago to the top of the list. Priorities are basically unused in Ubuntu, so I expect many frequent users need to request the bug list twice: once to load the page, a second time to click the "bug number" button on the page.

This has proven to be confusing for new team members and us old team members have been requesting the different sort order for a while just as rote.

Thanks

Agree, the priority is not an ideal sort order.

I like to sort it by date created desc - which should be identical to sorting it by bug number desc unless I miss something.

Just to clarify - do you propose to sort it by bug number asc or desc?

status: New → Incomplete

I believe 'desc' -- recent at the top, please. :)

I agree date created should be equivalent from the user's perspective. Whether or not launchpad internals / postgresql etc would have a preference is another question. I picked bug number because I figured it was less likely to involve creating and destroying "date" objects in an ORM layer as part of the sorting operation. (I have no idea if this is the case.)

Hello, a polite and friendly reminder that this is a frequent papercut around these parts. :) Thanks
