Bug Description
I'm working on a project hosted on gitlab.com. I've created snap packaging and merged it into the repository [1]. The project builds locally using snapcraft with base: core20. Since the project is hosted outside of github.com I did not use snapcraft.io/build and created a snap packaging recipe on launchpad.net directly [2]. Attempts to build the project on Launchpad fail as the actual build is scheduled to run with a xenial (core/16.04) base [3]. I took this issue to twitter where it was deemed to be a missing feature [4] that should be reported and fixed.

This also requires an update to our corporate Squid configuration. I've proposed a merge for that.
