Bug Description

$ host keyserver.ubuntu.com
keyserver.ubuntu.com has address 162.213.33.9
keyserver.ubuntu.com has address 162.213.33.8

In 2021 ipv6-only systems already exists.
apt-key adv --keyserver is useless on such systems, since pool.sks-keyservers.net not exists anymore.

Maybe it is time to add ipv6 to that important part of Ubuntu infrastructure?

The keyserver isn't part of Launchpad, so while I agree that this should be done it isn't something we can help you with. (Note that Launchpad has already taken steps to avoid users needing to talk to the keyserver directly for things like add-apt-repository, which nowadays goes via the Launchpad API instead.)

The last internal ticket about this was closed because the keyserver is deployed to an oldish Canonical cloud that doesn't support IPv6, so it wasn't really possible to make any progress on it. I expect it to be redeployed sometime this year, so that may make it relatively easy to provide IPv6, though I don't know for sure. You could email a request to <email address hidden> to make sure that it gets onto our sysadmins' radar.

Changed in launchpad:
status: New → Invalid
