For some reasons, git log shows a change in that message on 2008 d3c177076ad59dc
but I can't understand how that change could fix the mentioned test failure.

Maybe it was wrongly committed?

scheduleddeleti ondate is the column that indicates whether a publishing record is marked for removal and it backs the view's isPendingRemoval property which is also used here, so it's not completely wrong; but it does indicate when the removal is scheduled to happen rather than when it was requested.
We could use datemadepending instead (despite the terrible name), but it will often duplicate the "Superseded" information, and I think it can be useful to have the scheduling information. I think a better approach would be to just tweak the wording, and say "Scheduled for removal ..." rather than "Removal requested ...". That's still slightly ambiguous, but it does a better job of pointing towards the true meaning.
