Bug Description

Occasionally we need to have a special user own some actions in Launchpad - actions which are being taken by a script, and not any particular user. We currently have a celebrity called Launchpad Janitor, but we feel that this name is perhaps not the most appropriate for such a user. We'd like to re-purpose the janitor celebrity, but find a better name.

I think bug 144174 should be fixed at the same time as this bug.

We could run a competition on the blog. The logo competition has seen some good entries.

When you say you'd like to re-purpose the janitor, what do you have in mind? It'd be easier to find a new name if the new purpose were known.

We simply want to have one username for all robotic activities on launchpad. At the moment there are several, and we'd like to merge them, so "repurpose" isn't quite the right word, it's really more along the lines of "extending the Janitor's responsibilities".

I think calling it anything other than "Launchpad" would be violating Ockham's Razor: it would be introducing an unnecessary entity that Launchpad users would need to learn and remember.

Yeah, definitely 'Launchpad' is the ideal term for this. That will be both authoritative and clearly a mechanical process (anyone would immediately realize it's some mechanical part of Launchpad rather than a person.)
