Bug Description

I have been using the 'answers' section on a project and tried to turn it into a question.

That failed, with an 'oops' page.

So I clicked on 'report a bug' and entered the text by hand, only to be told by Laun chapd that the project did not exist. - it filled in the project when I clicked on 'report a bug'. I didn't.

Somehting is mangled

This is what happened after converting it to a bug. I had a normal looking bug report page, editied the title and added more text, and when I tried to submit I got this

And here is launchpad saying that the project it has known about all along does not exist.

it must be possible to add bugs to this project - there are 3 in there already

...so I clicked "chose" and got a search box, pre-populated with the project name.

I clicked the maginifier and look - there it is, the top suggestion.

How can it not exist if it can find it having used the same string for search?

Spooky.
Having created a bug aganist the Canonical System Image, the system then allowed me to /add/ the ubuntu-filemanager-app to bug #1587499 quite happily.

Odd.

I think the root cause of this bug is that Launchpad shouldn't have let you file a question against the ubuntu-filemanager-app package in Ubuntu to start with (the source package name exists, but only in PPAs, not in Ubuntu itself). I've moved your question to the ubuntu-filemanager-app project, and things should work a bit better now.

Ah, right.
I didn't make any of this up, I just typed a search and clicked through.
I see you moved bug #1587499 too.

Many thanks.

I will let you decide whether to close this bug or not - it does sound like it is still a bug because you said "Launchpad shouldn't have let..."
