Questions currently expire after lack of recent activity, regardless of whether it has been answered or solved. This forced me to provide artificial comments just to keep this question [1] open while waiting for some response. Even if no comments were required, the question was not in a pending information (by the requester) status and thus should not expire. Only when there's an answer pending verification is that it should be allowed to expire.
