only one email address available per contact (evolution)

I drive my workflow with kupfer. Can't say enough good things about it. One hitch:

When I open kupfer and pull up a contact to address an email to, I'm only provided a single email address as an option. If I want to use an alternate email for the contact, there's no way to select one. Further complicating the issue, there's no way to indicate a preference for "primary" or "default" email address for each contact in Evolution. This is using 2.06 on ubuntu 11.04, but I had the same problem with prior versions.

If this is an evolution issue, I'm happy to take the bug report there, but I'm hoping for some illumination on how kupfer decides which email to pull for each contact. Thanks!
