Bug Description

Just a small idea i had after using Alfred (Launcher on Mac OS X)

>> How about adding a Usage-Tab to Kupfer Preferences?

This Usage Tab could display a graph which shows how often a user is using Kupfer in general.

Example (taken from Alfred)

It's a 100% eye-candy idea - but i like it and i guess it could offer some additional usage informations for the users.
Like that Kupfer could show how often it is used and maybe even for what (i.e. starting apps/alunching vs other tasks)

Best regards
fidel

That's interesting but we don't have any usage information like that at this point. What we have is a weighted usage count of objects (that we use to rank matches naturally) and we could provide a statistic on top objects.

Hi Ulrik,

thanks for the response.

What do you mean by:
>> weighted usage count of objects?

I assume thats based on actual calls per app - or does it affect all kupfer actions?

At the end it was just an idea - but i still think offering even limited statistic-informations might be interesting for some people.

All objects ever used in commands are counted (but we forget them over time). So there is statistics for that, but only the current snapshot view of "popular objects". This is so much of a non-essential feature that I don't know if it will happen. Technically it can be implemented by a plugin that reads the learning database, and everyone is welcome to submit patches :-)

Given time, it's more important to change the actual ranking algorithm than to plot it (OTOH it's not a bad idea just to understand it better). I think the ranking needs to be logarithmic instead of negative reciprocal in the number of uses.

Another very useful feature is command history which shows 10-20 last used commands. Right now if you lost something - you have to type it again.
