Bug Description

What about a Monochrome icon?
I think would be great.
I think you can use this:

Hey these look great but by default we need one icon that works with all themes (so it's visible on either dark or light background).

If we can find something similar (like the black icon) but with sufficient white/light countour so that it works for every case, I'll be happy to install that as default.

Changed in kupfer:

I propose this monochrome icon for default for kupfer. It is designed by Nasser Alshammari as well. I have changed its white outline to be whiter and more opaque, so that the icon should work on any background, dark or light. I have also changed his version by slightly upscaling the icon to use more of the square.

If this happens, will there be an easy way to switch back to the old current icon?

It is easy to switch. The default icon theme is called "hicolor" and that is where applications install their included icons.

So you can override it if you put a file here in your home directory:

~/.icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/kupfer.svg

But after seeing the Faenza theme, I think the brown Kupfer icon looks great. The Faenza theme can also install a monochrome kupfer icon for the panel for you.

So I'm no longer that positive to switching Kupfer's icon to monochrome everywhere.
