Implement cropping

Bug Description

Well, this is a feature request rather than a bug report. I would like Kungfu to have cropping abilities:

-The preview window could have some kind of rectangle selection with draggable handlers, like the ones seen on any scanning software. Anything inside the rectangle would appear inside the resulting video, and everything outside it would be left out. This would be useful for removing embedded black margins and the like.

-We could have some "start ripping here" and "end ripping here" buttons, or maybe some handlers over the preview progressbar, to decide which part of the track you want to rip. This would be useful if you're only interested in ripping a specific scene of the movie.

I understand these request might be out of the original intended features, so if you think that they would overcomplicate the interface or just that it is not suitable, please feel free to close the report.

David,

Sorry it took me a bit to reply to this bug.

I left out cropping initially because it didn't want to complicate the interface; however, love the method you've proposed. I really want to keep KungFu a single window application, which your suggestion fits perfectly with. I have quite a bit of experience writing custom cairo widgets, so I don't think a widget like this would take me too long to implement.

I also like the your idea for selecting start ripping / end ripping bounds.

I personally wont get to this stuff for a while, though, till after some GStreamer issues have been fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Glad to hear that you liked my ideas. Someday I'll show this little gem to my friends and tell them with pride that I contributed to it, if just a little bit.

Gotta love free software :-)
