Bug Description

After upgrading to KDE SC 4.7, but NOT updating to kmail2, kmail looses mails with (D)IMAP.
This can be seen through errors when trying to upload a mail to a IMAP folder, which is refused with bad command error. Inspecting the traffic with wireshark finds that kmail sends only "APPEND 6", instead of adding the actual message as required by the IMAP spec. More delicately, I am unable to safe that message into an mbox file, always resulting in an empty (0 sized) mbox file. However, I can read the message fine in kmail, export the attachments, everything.

Manually inspecting the dimap folder indicates that the message is actually stored in another folder. Note that the message was moved through a filter, it seems that something was confused here.

Qt: 4.7.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.7.00 (4.7.0)
KMail: 1.13.6

Will try with kmail2 from kubuntu-experimental, since that is the KDE supported version.

Indeed, after updating to kmail2, the messages are in the proper folder (where the filter tried to put them).

But hell.. that is abou tthe only thing that works in kmail2. The remainder is a pain, making this issue even worse.

The same for me after upgrading to kde 4.7.0
 kmail 1.13.6, qt 4.7.2

I'm getting these errors:
Fails to append new emails to the folder:
  APPEND invalid command argument
  Could not parse command

Accounts fetched by IMAP from Gmail and company work server.

Setting confirmed as it affects multiple users.

Changed in kubuntu-ppa:
status: New → Confirmed

Getting a similar warning with kmail 4.7.2 (kubuntu) with my public imaps (imap with SSL/TLS) server:
Append failed, server replied: A000054 BAD invalid APPEND command syntax, invalid message flags list syntax
