Bug Description

An update few days ago, i.e., going to version
5.38.0-0ubuntu1~ubuntu17.04~ppa1
broke Kate/Kdevelop. In particular, entering a new line most of the time results in a crash.

Since bug reporting in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa
is deactivated. Posting it here.

Trying kate and kdevelop, I am unable to replicate the issue. Maybe it would be useful to know what types of files are being edited (i.e. .php, .js, etc...)

affects: kate (Ubuntu) → kubuntu-ppa

I was editing .cc/.cxx/.h. Could try to make an example file an upload it here if useful.

OK, made a chimera file that does the job. It is true that in some files/cases it does not crash.

Instructions:
* go to ln 39, col 53
    ** (col 53) place cursor at the end of "PupInfo);"
* press enter (newline)
* crashes all the time (for me)

 There is another test document from me (I truncated original document till crash is reproducible). Instructions:
 - place cursor in empty line #14 (before "}");
 - press enter -> Kate crashes

This, indeed, seems to be fixed with Qt 5.9.1, i.e., I am now on Kubuntu 17.10/Qt 5.9 where problem is gone.
