Schematic editor mouse pointer crosshair paint issue

Bug Description

Basic version/system information:

Version: 4.0.7+dfsg1-1ubuntu2 release build
wxWidgets: Version 3.0.4 (debug,wchar_t,compiler with C++ ABI 1011,GCC 7.3.0,wx containers,compatible with 2.8)
Platform: Linux 4.15.0-70-generic x86_64, 64 bit, Little endian, wxGTK
Boost version: 1.65.1
Curl version: libcurl/7.58.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1 zlib/1.2.11 libidn2/2.0.4 libpsl/0.19.1 (+libidn2/2.0.4) nghttp2/1.30.0 librtmp/2.3
         USE_WX_GRAPHICS_CONTEXT=OFF
         USE_WX_OVERLAY=OFF
         KICAD_SCRIPTING=ON
         KICAD_SCRIPTING_MODULES=ON
         KICAD_SCRIPTING_WXPYTHON=ON
         USE_FP_LIB_TABLE=HARD_CODED_ON
         BUILD_GITHUB_PLUGIN=ON

This problem only occurs in the schematic editor (see attached screenshot)...does not appear in the pcb editor. The mouse pointer/crosshairs (both types) paints the editor workspace making it impossible to work with. It can be cleared with a refresh but immediately repeats.

This was a known issue with the 4.0 version. It has been fixed in later versions, so please upgrade to the latest 5.1.5 version. It looks like you are using Ubuntu, so you can follow the instructions here: http://kicad-pcb.org/download/ubuntu/ to install the latest if the Ubuntu repository does not have it.
