Preferences sometimes disappears from menubar

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open KiCad
2) Open Pcbnew
3) Open 3d viewer
4) Close 3d viewer
5) Preferences no longer in Pcbnew menubar

It also occurs with CvPcb and the simulator in Eeschema (and maybe others I haven't found).

Closing Eeschema/Pcbnew and reopening from KiCad restores the Preferences menu.

Excellent. I've seen this for awhile but never came up with reproducible steps.
