Cannot freely position text in eeschema

With KiCad 5.0.2 I am able to hold down control+shift when moving text in eeschema, and that lets me position the text freely; i.e., the text does not snap to the grid, so I can nudge it anywhere I like. This is very useful in tight schematic drawings.

However, with kicad-r14933-7789ec4b (built around February 8th), that no longer works. When I try to move text while holding down control+shift, the text always snaps to the grid.
