In Kicad 5.0.1 when I move the components (Move command) to PCBnew the program freezes and then stops. If I reinstall the version of Kicad version 5.0.0 or nightly earlier, it works fine.

Does it happen with any component? Can you try with a resistor (two connections) and a test pad (one connection)?

It looks like you are currently running an actual Windows 8.0 copy. Is that correct? Please note that MS has discontinued all support for 8.0 and requires all users upgrade to 8.1 (build 9600)[1] to receive bug fixes and updates. Note that this is tangential to your bug report.

@Seth, the windows version reported is a windows quirk, and is expected. I think this has been fixed in wxwidgets master.

Perhaps the mistake was made by who runs the website? The title says
that 5.0.1 is available and not 5.0.1-1 or 5.0.1-3 !!!

Now I try the Kicad version 5.0.1-3, and work fine. But whit the lasy
uffical versione 5.0.1 the program stop and crash

The best thing is , that when you select the component with your left mouse knob you can move it, you can do everything so far, but DON’T use the M button (!).

Looks like fix committed by the build env for Alessandro. @Konstantin- If you are still having issues, we can re-open.

I have tried the latest nightly version (6-Nov-2018).
Everything is OK.

Noticed the crashing/freezing problem as well: it is very easy to freeze PCBnew 5.0.1-3 just by moving parts.

What I also noticed -and what might be related (?)- is that it is now really slow to move parts, especially when using the mouse (?!). When moving parts using the keyboard the update rate seems fine. Also the update rate/sluggishness seems to get worse when the grid is set smaller.

Tested using the OpenGL renderer (but also other renderers are really slooow) on an empty board with just one component. Overall update performance seems ok, for instance zooming goes really fast (as I was used to).

Just updated to 10-11-2018 nightly (kicad-r11783.acfa13c03-x86_64.exe) and the slow-move-problem persists! No crashing anymore though.

@Rogier-

Are you able to make a video of the slow move behavior in the nightly? I would greatly appreciate seeing the Task Manager processes tab, sorted by CPU usage at the same time as moving.
