Wishlist: Add PCB object scale tool

Bug Description

When placing logos and other artwork on the PCB it would make the process much easier if one could scale objects on the board. Currently one has to design a massive lineup of differently sized footprints or draw the artwork from scratch every time on the PCB to create artwork on the PCB that matches the space available on the board.

To prevent mistakes during layout a footprint could have an attribute that it may be scaled. This would prevent unintentional scaling of footprints that have to match physical packages, but allow scaling for artwork footprints that don't have mechanical constrains.

This may be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/1728272 where there is an old branch for testing. I am not sure if this includes direct scaling in pcbnew or not.

Yes that is correct. My suggestion will probably be covered if we have support for SVG items that are resizable and can be put on any board layer.

You are welcome to merge this bug report with the other one.

The only expansion over just scalable SVG graphic items is the ability to scale full footprints that contain multiple items. This can be useful for mechanical features, like tab-route bridges. They would benefit from being scalable, while containing features like edge cuts and drill holes for mouse bites. I am sure there are more PCB items that would benefit from having feature groupings that can be scaled.
