Bug Description

pcbnew

how I did:

I was curious to see what 3d file was attached to a footprint (it was a wrl and should have been a step)

I took properties and the double-clicked the actual 3d file associated as I could not see the ending of the filename as it extend out of sight to the right and the window was not resize-able.

hangs indefinitely

oops, i went in to footprint editor and wanted to remove this wrl 3D file from footprint (remove 3D shape)

chrashes again.

ps
I had to back down to this 2018-08-04 version due to some serious layout problems and all tracks on F.cu disappeared twice.

I cannot reproduce this in the 2017-08-19 build.
Perhaps a corrupt installation/project file considering related to previous problems described above?

This should work with a more recent build. The bug has been fixed 2018-08-05 with commit 2e96a5bc9f1a946143613510b29bc1ede07b1d1c

I ran the 2018-08-17 build, running into this problem.

before that I had no problem 2018-07-xx build.

I backed down to the 2018-08-04 build and it was happy days again.

Ok this is probably something different.

I have just tried the nightly build from 2018-08-17 on Win7 (I'm using Linux usually) and I cannot reproduce this bug. The property window is resizable.

Is the 3D model shown correctly in the preview and can you move it around?
I am asking because if you resize the window or remove the associated file the
preview is updated.

I will try tomorrow.

I am on windows x64

I will capture a video.
Usually I do capture videos but this time the nightly was so riddled of
bugs I fled head over heels.
It was like running into a brick wall, full speed.

Nicholas, can you test again? As Michael says, the bug could be fixed on 5th August, but you said you still experienced the error with 2018-08-17 build. There was no change that could affect the 3D viewer behavior in the meantime, so it makes me wonder whether the bug is fully fixed.
