Bug Description
If you use the ruler tool (on the devel branch, debug build, 8f3423b80), and there is mirrored text visible on the canvas (for example flipped text), then when you try to use the ruler tool, you get a wxASSERT about the GAL being unable to deal with mirrored text for bitmap fonts (used by the ruler tool).
