Bug Description

The "selected item properties" (I'm not quite sure what you call it) part of the window, which shows contextual properties for the currently selected object along the bottom of the app, has different colours for different types of property, eg. (in eeschema) Reference, Value, Component etc.

These seem to be hardcoded, but are difficult to read when using a dark window theme, ie a dark GTK theme on Linux. See attached screenshot showing eeschema.

It would be great if these were configurable through the colour scheme.

summary: - Text colour of selected item properties should be configurable
+ Text colour of item properties (in status bar) should be configurable

Or better yet just remove the colours. They're low-value and contribute to issues with OS colour themes (as indicated in the picture in comment #1).

I am also in favor of using the system text color for the status bar.

I'm assuming we are talking about the message panel here. I'm fine with using the system text color. However, that may make it more difficult to distinguish the Title/Value grouping that the separate colors provides. Someone should give it a try and see how it looks before ripping out the colored text.
