Bug Description

In my window's titlebar it says the version is "Pcbnew 4.0.2+e4-6225~38-ubuntu15.0.1-stable1"

After I was done working with my layout I generated the plot & drill files. For the Edge.Cuts layer, the file extension given to is was `gm1` instead of `gml`. I'm not sure if this was a typo or something, but when I tried to upload by board to a fab service, they gave me the error "No board boundary detected."

When I renamed the extension for the edge cuts to `gml` and re-uploaded it the fab service accepted the boards with no issue and the preview looked correct.

Hm. There are different naming schemes here, there's .GML which is "Gerber, Mechanical Layer" and .GM1 which is "Gerber, Mechanical #1". I've seen fabs expect either one of those. Wonder which is standard...

Nothing is standard.
Only .gbr is standard. Gerber X2 identify the file function.

"Standard" might not be the best choice of words there. They're supposedly Protel extensions, right? What did Protel use?

In an older version (I think about a year or two ago), it was generationg the `.gbl` extension for me. When did it switch over?

AFAIK, in Protel extensions, .gbl is the back (bottom) copper layer.

Yeah, the plotter did generate a .gbl file for the B.Cu layer. The fabbers said there were no problems with that file.

It looks like not extension is actually defined in "protel" ext.

Here is a link to a board house which uses .gm1

There are some other links with different extensions...

Because there is no way to know what extension should be used, I set the report as "won't fix".

I encourage you to use the Gerber X2 format without protel extension to avoid this kind of issue.
