Bug Description

It would be great to have a portable version of KiCad for Windows (e.g. no installation required, save settings to application folder instead of registry or system folders etc).

I don't think this is a duplicate bug because not all portable "apps" must be so in/with "PortableApps"; they can be standalone.

Furthermore, I may be missing something but I don't see the difficulty: Until recently I could use "kicad-winbuilder" to build what was in essence a portable version.
Since the release (or so it seems) that doesn't work anymore or is much harder/changed.
I think it's important to have"portable" version so I can have the old-stable also installed; I feel safer making small changes to old projects using it (old).

You perfectly can have both the old and new Kicad version.
Just (obviously) have them installed in 2 fully separate folders.
