Bug Description

More than a bug is a lack : in the " footprint editor " there is no tool to measure distances between pads and pad or pad and outline .
I think this tool is necessary .

I use the space key ("Reset Local Coordinates") on the first point, then move my cursor to the second point.
The status bar then displays values for deltax, deltay, and the distance.
Do you know about this? What different behaviour are you expecting?

Hello Martin,
I'm new to KiCad, before I used Orcad. In Orcad there are tools such as "measure" and others that facilitate the realization of the PCB and the FOOTPRINT.
However, the information that you have given me is good, although I would prefer a specific command to call a specific tool.
The way that I have shown is also available in Pcbnew?
Thank you.

Hi,
I agree with Alessandro. Coming from another pcb design software it's quite confusing not to have this tool. And quite time consuming to have to put your blocs in the center each time you want to perform a measurement.
Sometimes datasheets give you only the distance from the pad limit and not the regular pitch (between center of two pads).
And not only for footprint creation but measures on you pcb, on silkscreen between traces or any other object.

It's definitely a feature and not a bug.

Thanks,
