BZR5731 - pcbnew messed up menues [quite odd]

I suspect this is somehow related to my graphics card (nvidia), as it does work on my laptop (exact same OS, but intel graphics).

So far I've tried these things, but without any success:

* try different window manager (icewm instead of KDE)
* try fresh user account
* rebuilt from scratch
* build different BZR versions
* wipe nvidia drivers from machine & use nouveau instead

Symptoms:

* Starting pcbnew from the launcher application messes up all menus & icons - absolutely unusable
* Starting pcbnew as stand-alone-application appears to be unaffected (looks normal)

I'm quite puzzled & can't really use kicad on my main machine anymore.

There appears to be something wrong with the wx library that comes as default for my distro. I just tested an alternate version and it is back to normal. I'll roll back to the stock library and check if I can reproduce. If so, I'll file a bug report for my distro and probably close this one.
