Bug Description

Use case I would like to see is that I can build up my own library of schematic modules (maybe a schematic page) for my building block circuits (e.g. board power supply, etc) and be able to just pull these into a new project. I dont want to have to redraw the same power supply circuitry, or AVR/ISP setup for every single circuit board.

Yes! This!

Perhaps I'll put this into my "maybe sometime this summer I'll implement this" todo list. It wouldn't be too terribly hard to do.

That's great. Thanks Chris. I look forward to seeing this commit someday.

Files/Append Schematic Sheet is not good for you ?

You could import it as a sheet or copy and paste the contents of one
schematic into another schematic. The copy and paste from schematics in
different projects requires you to run eeschema in stand alone mode.

I like the suggestion of a function for this!

Copying from (text)file to file directly gives you the risk of overlapping components.

I do this kind of stuff by copying the desired .sch into my project forlder, then creating a hierarchical sheet of the same name. Then its easy to copy/paste to the root schematic. The whole process is pretty cumbersome though.

@jean-pierre charras (jp-charras), for me the Files>>Append option works. But why does this option appear when I open Eeschema directly and not when I open it from the KiCad project? (the same with Pcbnew).

What do you mean?
Files/Append Schematic Sheet is always available.

Between Append Schematic Sheet and https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/594086 (copy/paste between schematics) I'm going to close this one.
