Bug Description

this can be noticed when disabling the solder mask layer...
checked in windows and linux
in old versions it was not transparent

Without solder mask, most board materials that I work with fr4, 370hr,
etc. are fairly transparent even at 0.063" thick. I'm not sure there is
anything to fix. I think that was the reasoning for the change. Of
course you could always turn off the realistic mode if you find the
transparency objectionable.

Hey, I liked this. It's shiiiiny ^-^ Make it an option if you take it out, please? :)

Bit of an issue with it though, internal layers aren't visible even though the transparency suggests they ought to be.

(Along those lines, a proper layer select tool like in the 2D view would be sweet.)

hi Wayne,
I see that is only a matter of taste :)
anyway it is possible to change the transparency value in
3d_canvas.h
void setGLEpoxyColor( double aTransparency = 1.0 );
thank you for your reply...
so, for me, nothing to be fixed :)

Hopefully at some point someone will have some free time and make the 3D
rendering colors and transparency user configurable. It's been
discussed before. It definitely wont happen until after the next stable
release.

Because this is not actually a bug, and rather something that pople should be able to fine tune themselves, I consider this a wishlist item. People who wants to improve it can search for wishlist items with the tag 3dviewer.

Changed in kicad:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
