Sorry about lack of information.
I am using Windows 8.1 but I do not ever remember having this work in Win 7 either.
I am using KiCad version 2013.07.07-BZR4022
I set the default grid size in eeschema, and save preferences. When I go back, it always reverts back to 50mil grid size.
Thank you

What was the last grid size when you closed Eeschema? That is what gets saved. Even if you set the grid size in the options dialog, if you change it while editing and close Eeschema. That will be the grid setting the next time Eeschema is launched. This is the expected behavior.

I always use 25mil grid spacing, but when it is closed, it reverts back to 50mil grid spacing.

This bug has been fixed in the product branch. My guess is it got fixed a long time ago. We no longer support maintaining the old stable branch which is 4022. Maybe you can get someone to back port this fix but I doubt it. We are currently operating under the assumption that users should be using the product branch to help out with testing. At some point in the future we may revisit the idea of stable releases but they will not be maintained in the same way we have done in the past.

Oh, indeed it is fixed. Missed that the first time I tried to replicate it seems. Marking it as fixed -- in product.

Thank you. I guess it's my fault. I had always looked at the "stable" releases and would update when I saw a new one. I did not realize that KiCad was going strictly developmental. I do like the "new" KiCad.
Thanks to all that make KiCad the best, IMO.
