Bug Description

Using bzr 5005, in the default canvas in pcbnew, while using the track tool you can no longer move the mouse over a track and press delete to delete a track. Now you have to go to the Select(Arrow?) tool to delete tracks. This slows down board layout considerably.

Also, in the OpenGL canvas with the PNS router, you have to not only use the Select tool, but you have to click and select the track you want to delete. This does not select the whole track but just a segment, and I could not find a way to select a track (I could Ctrl+click to select a net but not just a track).

It seems to me that the most usable interface was what the default router had previously, where you can simply move the cursor over a track while still in the Track tool and hit the delete key to delete the track, or the backspace key to delete just the segment. No mode/tool switching needed.

Looks like the first part of this is not entirely accurate. It does still work sometimes in the default canvas, but sometimes not - and I don't know what the difference is yet. It may have to do with switching back and forth from OpenGL and default canvas.

unable to reproduce the first issue and the 2nd issue is a duplicate of another bug, so marking as duplicate

@Simon I think it is not the duplcate of #1381024. That is a wishlist function of pressing Backspace (not Del) while laying track to *roll back* the last placed segment.

This #1342920 is another wish to be able to delete a segment or whole track (?) by pushing Del or Backspace or anyone (?) *while not leaving* "Add tracks and vias" mode.
Now I have to leave "Add track and vias", hover over the track, push I or U (or nothing for deleting a single segment only), then push Del to delete.

If you agree, please set both reports to Wishlist.

I agree with Novak that this is not a duplicate of #1381024. He stated the issue well.

May I comment:
I think this is a "bug" and not a "wish", because the behaviour of pcbnew was "good" a few builds ago, i. e. it did what intuitively could be expected:
- in "routing mode" (GL canvas, after having pressed "x") when hovering over a track and pressing "del" the whole track was removed (excluding vias when I remeber correctly).
- when not in "routing mode" hovering over a track and pressing "del" just a single track segment was removed.
This behaviour is completely logical and enables speedy work. Now pressing "del" over a track when in routing mode does - nothing. You can only delete tracks segment-wise in GL canvas. Deleting tracks as a whole makes it necessary to switch canvases.
Why has it changed? It has definitvely...
Using the builds from the ppa repository on linux ("About" shows "no-vcs-found-undefined"...)

Greetings an thanks for the fine work from

Dominik.

You can delete whole tracks with 'U', <backspace>.

The behaviour is consistent between routing mode and selection mode (which is a good thing).

U selects trivial connections and I selects the whole net. The just hit backspace to remove whatever you just selected.

I goess it makes more sense to mark this bugs as fixed. There is change in bahaivour, but it is more flexible.
