Bug Description

Attached is an OpenOffice/LibreOffice spreadsheet for calculating IPC-2221 minimum pad sizes for three different producibility levels when given a hole size. I would like to see the calculations in this spreadsheet added to the Pcb Calculator, or better yet, in the Pad Properties dialog.

It would also be convenient if this feature included hole size calculations when given the diameter of a round lead or the width of a square lead.

Almost 5 years and no action. Is this an up-and-coming standard, or one that's on its way out?

IPC-2221B has been released in 2012. There is a working draft for IPC-2221C [1]. Sadly there is no public information about that committee.
I have seen a presentation that outlines a new approach (compared to IPC-2221B) In it the annular ring of a pad (or via) is no longer defined by fixed values but dependent on the drill size. (Meaning pads with larger drill sizes would get larger annular ring measurements)

One problem for implementing this is that a real implementation might require access to this standard. I am not sure KiCad can state that something is complaint without legal access to the standard in question.

IPC is a volunteer organization. And they are always short on volunteers. You can e-mail them and ask to help with a committee that interests/concerns you. You get access to the standard and get to contribute to its future development.

Let me know if you are interested and need a contact.
