I answer your questions.
In the instructions Pcbnew page 17 / § 3.9.5 The term "pattern overlay" is translated by my translator "pattern overlay".
the same instructions page 22 / § 3.11, the term is called "placement patterns centering" which is the same thing.
I noted that in the 2013 version, it is impossible to place this pattern centering on the pcb.
