Bug Description

I cannot reproduce it but it seems to me it is triggered when I open a "file selection" widget.
I canno switch between windows with ALT+TAB, I cannot iconize or resize windows (no window widgets and handles).
If I am lucky I can use the "K" button to logout e log back in.
I am available to help troubleshooting provided that precise directions are provided.

Current workaround is to kill kwin_x11 and to restart it.

1. There's no debugging version of the package kwin-x11
2. The problem seems to be tied to the notifications (but I cannot be sure)
3. The kwin_x11 process doesn't die but
4. killing and restarting it seems to temnporarily solve the problem.

When I get these symptoms I hit alt-F2 to get the command runner and enter..

killall plasmashell ; kstart plasmashell

Just killing and restarting kwin_x11 is enough for me.
But, I'd like to troubleshoot and head to a fix, more than workarounds, though.
Doesn't anyone here know how to debug this nasty issue?

None knows? The problem is quite annoying.
I am now running a crontab every hour with "x11_kwin --replace".

I experience this issue for a long time using gnome flashback. At least since 14.04 if not even 12.04 or 10.04. It happens randomly and very very rarely, but a little more frequently when I have an instance of PhpStorm running (large java application).

I'm on up-to-date 16.04 and still have this issue from time to time.
