Bug Description

For many reasons (testing, security, safety, simplicity, etc), I would like to be able to run kazaam directly from an extracted tarball or bzr checkout.

Other python applications such as Pitivi, GTG and Specto allow doing exactly that. For example:
- in pitivi's git checkout you can simply do "bin/pitivi" (not /bin/pitivi) and it detects that you are running it from the dev environment
- in lp:specto, you can run "./launch.sh" to launch specto without installing.

Thanks!

bzr branch lp:kazam
cd kazam/bin
./kazam

Tried that?

As Poepy mentioned, you can run it alright, there's just one catch. If you don't have it installed, you will not see program icons and indicator icons. Unfortunately this is a problem with Application Indicators (see #657857).

Ah damn. I tried ./bin/kazam.
You should really write it down in the README or something :)
