Crashes on start under Wayland in Ubuntu GNOME 17.04

Trying to run Kazam from app menu or terminal under Wayland session causes it to crash. Terminal produces the following:

I tested this with all 5 of the desktops I have.

Error
 - Gnome
 - Ubuntu

No error
 - Gnome on Xorg
 - Ubuntu on Xorg
 - Unity

Also, this is not only an issue for Kazam. OBS has the same problem when trying to record the entire screen.
