Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better.
This PPA does not support Xenial/16.04, so the error you mention should actually be seen as the expected result. PPAs are 3rd party software, ie. checks on if they are trustworthy for your purposes, support your release, etc are all on you.
