unable to record audio from speakers

I am running Kubuntu 13.04, and I am trying to use Kazam to make videos for Youtube. While Kazam is able to pick up my commentaries from my microphone with no problems, the resulting videos completely lack the speakers' sound. I have attempted to find a solution to this problem, but the solutions involving the pavucontrol package which I found online have not worked for me. I have double-checked my settings, and the speakers are set to Monitor of Built-in Audio Analog Stereo, while the microphone is set to Built-in Audio Analog Stereo. I know that this is not an issue with pulse audio because there is activity on the sound levels bar in pavucontrol when I play music through the speakers.

Hi, thank you for your report. Is this still an issue with Kazam 1.4.4? If you can run kazam with the --debug switch and attach the output here, I can look into it.

Try Pulse Audio Volume Control in the software center.

Audio problem solved with a program called PulseAudio volume control in the Ubuntu Software Center.
Be sure to do exactly what this video shows including click the little speaker icon.
