I don't think this bug is a duplicate of the one mentioned at all... I see this when recording on Ubuntu 13.04, regardless of the codec used.

I'm using Nvidia drivers 313, although I'm guessing it's related to Compiz rather than the Nvidia drivers. No black flickering is present when recording a single window.

Personally, i said "may", not are...

The problem may also be related to Compiz...

PS: You use beta Nvidia drivers ?

OK so I ran a quick test by switching back to the nouveau driver and recording a video; no black flickering. I was wrong in guessing this being a Compiz issue... it looks to be related to Nvidias drivers in some way.

Eric, you don't happen to have multiple monitors do you? Through more testing I've found disabling one of my two monitors works to prevent any flickering when doing a recording.

I recheck the Nvidia settings and I FOUND !!!!

I share my solution to you :

Open Nvidia X Settings
Go to OpenGL Settings
UnCheck "Allow Flipping"
Put Quality on "HIGH" (It's always fun :) )

Have fun !

You're right, that worked! :)

After hours of messing with different drivers, xrandr, disper, xorg.conf modelines / options to get a non-standard resolution (720p) working and now this discovery by yourself, I finally have a nice screencap setup.

Cheers for the help Eric!

Apparently this was not Kazam's bug, so I'll close this.
