Bug Description
InspIRCd (and possible other ircds) has a TBAN command (via m_timedbans). Using TBAN is exactly the same as setting a normal ban via MODE +b, except that the ban has an expiry time associated with it; once the expiry time is reached, the ircd removes the ban automatically, although the ban can be manually removed before then like any other ban (timed or otherwise).
In channels with large AKICK lists, the ban list can quickly grow to hit the maximum limit, and manually clearing it out is awkward. In order to help with this, there should be a channel-wide configuration option for AKICK duration. By default, it would be set to indefinite (a duration of 0, perhaps); in this configuration, AKICK would set regular bans as always. If the duration is set to a certain value, then AKICK will set timed bans with the specified duration, rather than setting regular bans.
