Bug Description

Binary package hint: libnss-ldap

After spending a while getting NSS to work on a gutsy system, I discovered that "uri ldaps://foo.example.com" doesn't work (connects to the server, and then claims no user exists), while "uri ldaps://foo.example.com/" does. The best solution would be to make it just work, possibly by noticing the lack of a / and adding one, when the config file is parsed.

This is still broken on an up-to-date Jaunty system.

These work:
ldaps://server/
ldaps://server:636

This doesn't:
ldaps://server

This is *remarkably* annoying!!!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
