gui charm should convert to use charm-helpers

Bug Description

Canonical is standardizing on using https://launchpad.net/charm-helpers, and using it would significantly reduce the amount of code and tests we maintain, I think.

Need to check if this is still true. Marking wishlist as we've got a fairly mature charm right now and changes to the design would be low priority.
