Bug Description

Currently you have to obtain your login password from ~/.juju/environments/<env>.jenv in order to login. It would be beneficial to allow someone to override that password through a configuration variable within the charm. I realize there is a variable labeled 'password', however, I do not believe this pertains to logging into the UI (or if it does I haven't gotten it to work)

I'm not sure this is something we'll get to. We're currently aiming to support the Juju environment providing auth users and credentials and working through their API for that. We have no plans for the GUI to keep auth apart from the Juju environment itself.

Juju Quickstart does use some code to help automate a login by reading the jenv for you and creating an auto login token, would looking at that help with your needs?

We were hoping to avoid doing that. What is the general feedback of having users wanting to use juju-gui but have to go in and read a yaml file to grab a password? To simplify automated deployments and keep the user experience fluid it makes sense to provide an configurable option of setting a custom password.

quickstart is our answer to that poor user experience. If the environment already exists and you run it, it'll just open a browser and auto log you in.

The real solution is the multiple user work that is coming very soon down the pipe. I think adding this other auth use case will be short lived and not be useful once the auth hits.

Is there documentation or any work done on the multiple user? Right now even with juju quickstart that wouldn't help users who are running deployments on machines that do not have a browser or even a DE.

Adam, there isn't much exposed at this stage, but it is my team's primary focus right now to add and expose a juju command to add new users and change passwords.

We hope to have something usable within a few weeks.
