webcam microphone crashes jokosher when recording

Initial note: The webcam works fine in e.g. Skype.

Jokosher 0.10.1 on Ubuntu 8.04 (clean install) crashes when attempting to record audio using a built-in webcam microphone. To reproduce:

* Connect a webcam with built-in microphone
* Create a new project and add an instrument
* Project -> Recording Inputs... -> set input to "USB Audio input 0" (atleast, that what it's called in my case)
* Start recording...

Yields the following error:

Jokosher 0.11 has just been released. Please install the deb from jokosher.org/download and let us know if you get the same error.

Gnonlin version: 10.9

I get this error (Jokosher set to use ALSA for input and output) using the new version, no sound is recorded.

Thanks for looking into this! Please tell if there is anything I can do to help resolve this bug.

I've put in some code which will log details about this problem and hopefully the information it provides will allow us to fix this bug. I'm waiting for to get merged into Jokosher and then I will write up some instructions for you to make use of it.

If you want to speed up the process, I can walk you through it on IRC (#jokosher on irc.freenode.net). Otherwise I should have it ready in a few days.

Jokosher still doesn't record from a webcam mic, I select vocal instrument (or any instrument) and then press record:

If I try to select "Recording Inputs" it says "The GNOME Settings sound system does not support device selection".

I'd love to use Jokosher to record things but I have never seen it work with a webcam mic.

For the record audacity has no problem recording from the webcam mic, and the gnome volume control shows active levels for the mic (skype works etc...)
