Bug Description

Jokosher 0.10.1 (on Ubuntu 8.10 x86) crashed on me with the error:

"Argh! Something went wrong and a serious error occurred:

Resource busy or not available.

gstalsasrc.c(630): gst_alsasrc_open (): /GstPipeline:timeline/GstBin:bin3/GstAlsaSrc:alsasrc1:
Device 'hw:1' is busy

It is recommended that you report this to the Jokosher developers or get help at http://www.jokosher.org/forums/"

This message leads the user to think he should report bugs in the Jokosher forums. And indeed there are many bug reports (unanswered) in the forums.

The last part of the error message should be replaced with:

"Please report this error to the Jokosher developers at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/jokosher
You can also get help at
http://www.jokosher.org/forums/"

This is a good point. Do you think you could make a patch? Shouldn't be too difficult to change a string.

Changed in jokosher:
assignee: nobody → laszlok2
importance: Undecided → Low
milestone: none → 0.11
status: New → Confirmed

Please find the patch attached then! I made a diff with the version from:

As it turns out there is already a link to the launchpad report bug page under Help->Report Bug. So I changed the message to suggest using that menu option. This way the user doesn't have to copy and paste the URL and we don't have to worry about it being wrapped if there isn't enough room.

Thanks for bugging us about this. You'll see the new message in the release next month.
